A group of anti-social-elements today created tension here at Pawan Nagar area when they set ablaze at least 60 two-wheelers at different parking lots of appartments, police said.


A group of anti-social-elements today created tension here at Pawan Nagar area when they set ablaze at least 60 two-wheelers at different parking lots of appartments, police said.

Reason behind the incident is not yet accertained. Unidentified persons rushed in Durga Nagar, Abhiyanta Nagar, Rajratna Nagar, Shubham Park in CIDCO locality, coming under Ambad police station, set ablaze 60 motorcycles, scooters and other bikes parked at different apartments early today and fled from the scene.

Police, however, arrested one suspected in connection with the said incident. All the bikes were reduced to ashes in the fire, causing heavy damage to the owners, police added.

Reason behind the setting up of bikes on fire not yet accertained, but it is said that anti-social-elements created terror against police action taken to prevent growing crimes in the city. Fire-fighting-tenders of Nashik Municipal Corporation rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Some houses were damaged due to the fire,police said. Citizens in the city are worried with the rise of crimes. Incidents of chain-snatching, stealing of mobiles are growing and 45-year-old police constable Krishnakant Vinayak died in an attack by a gang at Nashik road last week.
