The flight AI-620 had 120 passengers on board who were immediately evacuated by deploying chutes from the aircraft. The prompt measures by the concerned authorities prevented a potential disaster and the plane was towed away for repairs.

Airport officials said around 7.30 a.m. when the flight was preparing to land, smoke was detected and it made an emergency landing as a precautionary step. The cause of the smoke could not be immediately known, though officials denied there was a tyre burst.
