Police have recorded the statement of actor Aamir Khan as a witness in a road accident case where an 83-year-old was fatally knocked down allegedly by an underage driver in suburban Khar.
"We have recorded the statement of Aamir Khan and other three witnesses in the accident case in which a senior citizen was knocked down. Further investigation is on," deputy commissioner of police Niket Kaushik said.
Asked if the Bollywood star agreed to testify in the trial, he said, "Aamir has not made any further commitments."
On January 3, 15-year-old son of a carpenter took his father's bike for an early morning joyride and allegedly knocked down Moti Jhangiani at Linking Road. Jhangiani later succumbed to injuries.

Aamir, who happened to be passing by the spot, saw the accident and sent his staff to help the victim.
"Our investigating officers recently recorded his (Aamir's) statement. Subsequent process to file chargesheet is on. This is just like any other case for us," said Ajit Sawant, senior police inspector of Khar police station.
The boy had been charged under IPC Section 304 A (rash and negligent driving). He was arrested and released on bail by a court. The court imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 on his father under the Motor Vehicles Act for allowing his minor son to drive.
