The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in coordination with the travelling ticket examiner (TTE), Government Railway Police (GRP), and station staff of the Central Railway (CR) has rescued 864 runaway children from trains, platforms and railway station premises from January to November this year, and reunited them with their families.
Central Railway Chief Public Relations officer Shivaji Sutar said, "This includes 535 boys and 329 girls, who had either run away from their homes or were lost and were found on trains, railway platforms and railway premises by the RPF with help from ticket checking staff, GRP, Childline NGO and passengers."
"Most of these children had gone to railway stations without informing their families, following fights, family issues or in search of a better future.
