The Pantnagar police has arrested four persons for assaulting a 34-year-old working with a courier company. The incident took place on August 18 in Ramabai area, Ghatkopar. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the wife of the victim identified as Shahid Khan, said, "Four people approached my husband and asked for a lighter. My husband gave them the lighter, but when he requested it back, they asked for his name, and started beating him up."
According to his wife, Khan sustained multiple injuries and fractures, and damage to the brain. He is currently being treated at the Rajawadi Hospital. "I am a homemaker. My father-in-law is paralysed and my mother-in-law has a liver ailment. I have no idea how I will be able to cover the medical bills," she added.

The Pantnagar police has registered an FIR against the four accused. They have been identified as Jatin Singh, 28, Vishal Jadhav, 27, Datta Kamble, 22, and Mahindra Singh, 21. Jadhav had a case registered against him in 2020. The gang has been booked under Sections 326 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by weapons), 504 (intentional insult) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
