A 26-year-old construction worker allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in Virar on Friday at 4 pm. According to the Virar police, the incident occurred at a construction site near the survivor's residence.

On the pretext of taking the survivor on a tour around the construction site and showing her the machines, the accused, identified as Sandesh Vinerkar, lured her into a secluded room and raped her.
The two were friends and the survivor visited the site when her mother left for work in Andheri. "Vinerkar lured her into a room and raped the survivor. When the girl shout ed for help, other workers nabbed the accused and called the survivor's parents.
A police official from Virar police station said, "The survivor's mother arrived at the spot half an hour after the incident. Unfortunately, the accused fled while he was being brought to the police station. The survivor's mother has registered a case against Vinerkar."
