1993 Mumbai bomb blast accused, Firoz Rashid Khan, has allegedly abused and assaulted an on-duty police officer on Tuesday inside Arthur Road jail


A 1993 Mumbai bomb blast accused has allegedly abused and assaulted an on-duty police officer on Tuesday.

NM Joshi police have registered a case against Firoz Rashid Khan, under trial under several sections of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act for his alleged involvement in the serial blasts.

According to police officials, the incident took place when the on-duty assistant police inspector Anup Dange, who is posted at the local arms department in Tardeo, was taking the Mumbai blast accused Mustafa Dosa, Tahir Merchant, Abdul Qayyum Shaikh and Feroz Rashid Khan to TADA court.

An officer from NM Joshi police station said, "The incident took place inside Arthur Road jail, following which the case was registered with us."

Who is Feroz Rashid Khan?

Firoz Abdul Rashid Khan alias Hamza, 40, was reportedly the lieutenant of 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case accused Mohammad Dossa. He was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in February 2010 after being on the run for 17 years.

Firoz Khan's name is mentioned in the 1993 blast case chargesheet. Khan has in the past claimed that his name is 'Hamza' and that he has been wrongly implicated in the case.
