An 18-year-old college student is in a critical condition after he was hit by a truck while on his way home from an exam. The teenager was riding a friend's bike and even had a helmet on, but suffered multiple serious injuries to his head after the truck hit the bike from behind at Sunder Nagar, Malad (West).

The incident took place around 7.35 pm on Tuesday evening. The victim, Todid Sayeed fell, and the bike skid with the impact. The truck driver fled from the spot. Eyewitnesses in the area took Sayeed to Lifeline Hospital, where he is currently in the ICU, on ventilator support.

Sayeed, a resident of Malwani and an FYBCom student of Saraf college, had taken all precautions while riding the bike, said his family members. "He had a driving licence and was even riding with a helmet. He had gone to college to give exams and he was coming home on his friend's bike," they added. Malad police have registered a hit-and-run case and are using CCTV footage of the incident to identify and catch the culprit.
