A minor girl from Uttar Pradesh was kidnapped and brutally gang-raped by seven people in Mirzapur, and brought to Mumbai to be sold into prostitution. She managed to escape her captors at Dadar. She then boarded a local train and approached police at Goregaon, who took her to the Borivli Railway Protection Force (RPF) and registered a case.
According to the Borivli RPF, the 16-year-old is a resident of Mirzapur. On August 16, she was on her way home when four unknown people kidnapped her and sped away in a car. Police said the accused also snatched her mobile phone and jewellery.
"A missing case was registered on the same day. Police tried tracing her through her mobile number, but couldn't do so," informed a Borivli RPF personnel. They then took her to a dark room, where at least seven men gang-raped her. The brutes also took her pictures and sent it to customers in Mumbai who would âbuy' her.
"On Sunday (August 24), the accused had brought the girl in a car to Dadar, where they were going to sell her. Somehow she managed to escape and ran away into the station, asking people to help her. In the meanwhile, the accused escaped," said an RPF officer.
Fearing they were still following her, the girl boarded a train and, on spotting some police personnel at Goregaon, alighted there. She pleaded with the police to save her from her rapists; cops then took her to the Borivli RPF and registered a case.
A rape case has been registered, along with sections for kidnapping and other relevant charges of the Indian Penal Code. Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, have also been included in the case.
Police sent the survivor for a medical test, which confirmed that she had been raped. Police have also recorded a video statement of the survivor and have sent it to the police in Uttar Pradesh for investigations.
The girl's family has also been informed and they will be arriving in the city soon.
