A week into placement season at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, over 1,000 job offers have been made, with over 250 companies - domestic as well as international - participating in the process. On Day 1 itself, there were approximately 350 offers and 278 students accepted offers. While Uber made the highest international offer with a $2.74 lakh per annum package, the next in line was by Rubrik with a $1.21 lakh per annum. Among domestic offers, Millennium has offered a Rs 62 lakh per annum package followed by WorldQuant with Rs 51.71 lakh per annum and Blackstone with Rs 46.62 lakh per annum.
According to information provided by the PRO at IIT-Bombay, the placement season started off this year on a good note. In fact, on Day 1, selections were a record, with approximately 350 offers and 278 students accepting offers. There were 29 offers from 10 international companies from a total of 51 companies which participated on Day one. The trend continued the following days showing an increase in the selections this year compared to last year's placement season.

"We are hopeful of ending the placement season with good selections with 25 per cent more companies participating this year," said B V Ravi Shankar, Training and Placement Officer, IIT-Bombay. At the end of the sixth day of the placements, the institute claimed that the total number of selections with accepted offers was 1,201 with the participation of a total of 255 companies including those from Public Sector Units (PSUs).

A total of 240 companies have recruited students until now. Companies that made the highest offers are QUALCOMM and Samsung Research Institute and Intel Corporation. The Rakuten Group has made the highest number of 26 international offers. "The regular recruiters have shown faith in IIT-B and we are anticipating more offers from these companies. Amongst the sectors, prominent hiring was by IT/Software, Core Engineering and Consulting," said the IIT-B PRO.
