Panscholi has had a string of drunken brawls and run-ins with the law over the years.

The Versova police questioned Panscholi for his close friendship with Munir. In his statement, Panscholi clarified that he has no business connection with the doctor and he is not a complainant in the drug scam case.

Excerpts from his statement to the police:

"My mother Aruna Panscholi was suffering from breast cancer and was being treated in 2008 at Nanavati Hospital.

During this period, Apoorva, a friend of my brother, suggested that I consult Dr Munir Khan. My mother was taken to Munir, and he gave her some medicines.

However, he did not take any money for his consultation. He liked being friends with celebrities and that's how our friendship developed.

I have visited his house and that's how I know his son Munish and wife Sarosh.

Miracle medicine

Munir's medicines didn't help my mother's health at all, so I continued her treatment at Nanavati Hospital.

Last year, when my mother's condition became serious, Munir came to visit her. This gesture touched me, and I got emotionally attached to him.

On October 27, the owner of Bawa International Hotel, Gurinder Bawa had organised for a charter plane for family members and celebrities to attend a wedding in Delhi.

It was there that I got a call from Sarosh informing about the raid at Munir's clinic. After that I haven't got any calls from Munir.

However, his son Munish called me after he was granted bail, but did not speak of anything in particular.

The police asked me about Munir's Mercedes being parked in the society. I am unaware of this. I will inform the police if I receive any calls from Munir or his wife."

Absconding

Dr Munir claims to have invented a product called Body Revive that purportedly cures all kinds of diseases, including cancer. His Andheri clinic was raided last week, and Munir is currently absconding.
