Claims Sanjay Ghadi, who has been with Raj Thackeray for nearly 22 years, but quit the party to join the Shiv Sena

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) general secretary Sanjay Ghadi who, with his wife Sanjana, quit the party yesterday to join Shiv Sena claimed that he did so because MNS is a dictatorship.

"There is dictatorship in MNS. The party is not functioning with a correct system. I have been working with Raj Thackeray for the past 22 years, but the present working pattern made me take this decision," said Ghadi.

While with the MNS, Ghadi used to look after the Konkan region while Sanjana was vice-president of the women's wing.

'No future'

Ghadi also claimed that there is a lot of partiality within the ranks.

"Nitin Sardesai asked me on Raj's behalf where I would like to contest the elections from. I preferred Dindoshi, but Shalini Thackeray, Raj's sister-in-law, also wanted to fight for that seat.

After I spoke to Raj about this yesterday evening, I realised there was no future for people like us in this party and so I decided to quit," explained Ghadi.

He also said that while the party's anti-North Indian stand was a good one, the party members have now realised that the management is not dedicated enough to the cause.

Ghadi's resignation came as a jolt for MNS. Recently, senior party leader Shweta Parulekar too had quit the MNS for the Shiv Sena after Raj abruptly dissolved the party's women's wing.

Prakash Mahajan too had chosen the Shiv Sena over the MNS. "MNS will see more resignations in the next few days," predicted Ghadi. "Earlier, Sainiks wanted to join the MNS, but now the trend has reversed."
