Dr Sanjay Oak, dean of Parel hospital,u00a0tells Hemal Ashar Dr Dhiraj Dongre had problems adjusting with others
Is there truth to reports that there were a slew of complaints against Dr Dongre earlier too?
There had been complaints against Dr Dongre earlier, but these were for inappropriate behaviour.
What you mean by 'inappropriate'?
There were certain inter-personal problems. There were some fights while he was on duty. There was difficulty in adjusting with others.
What was the hospital doing in the light of these complaints?
I had heard about these problems, but since they were resolved at a lower level, I didn't come into the picture.
There are reports saying he had problems with women, he was a Peeping Tom, looking into nurse's changing rooms...
You can ask the persons concerned, these complaints had never come to me. In this particular case, the complaint also did not come to me, but was filed at Bhoiwada police station and we had to take cognizance of it.
Caught in the ACT: Dr Dhiraj Dongreu00a0was arrested on Saturday and later released on bail.
Inquiry committees are greeted with cynicism. What is this inquiry panel supposed to investigate?
The truth of the matter. Just because there is an allegation, that may not mean everything is true. The other side has to
be heard; the doctor has to be given a chance. Rehabilitation is the solution here.

Have you spoken to Dr Dongre, post-incident?
He has been very co-operative and I have stressed that it is in his interest to speak and participate fully. He has agreed.
The Case
KEM Hospital's casualty medical officer, Dr Dhiraj Dongre, was arrested on Saturday after a woman patient lodged a molestation complaint against him at Bhoiwada police station.
She had alleged that u00a0Dr Dongre had kissed her u00a0when she went into the u00a0ward complaining of a stomachache.
A three-member inquiry panel has been set up to investigate charges against Dongre.
Dongre is now out on bail and on leave from the hospital.
