The Kandivli police arrested a 28-year-old man in a housebreaking case, and through investigation and CCTV footage, the Santacruz police identified him as the same individual involved in a burglary on Independence Day. A 35-year-old working professional has lost over Rs 51 lakh to a stock market fraud. The man, identified as Amit Amenable, has claimed that he was lured into stock trading from advertisements on Instagram reels. In May 2024, he saw an advertisement related to stock market investments and followed the steps in the advertisements. By the time he realised that he had become a victim of cyber fraud, he had lost Rs 51 lakh. Read more.

Mumbai: Burglar busted by cat nabbed

The Amboli police have arrested a 19-year-old man for breaking into the sixth-floor residence of Marathi film director Swapna Waghmare Joshi in Andheri West on August 25. The accused, Aniket Murti Kaundkar, had used a pipe to climb up and enter through a window. The alleged burglar managed to pocket Rs 6,000 after the family cat’s persistent meowing alerted Waghmare’s son-in-law. However, before the latter could catch him, Kaundkar deftly escaped via the same window through which he had entered. Read more.

A 40-year-old tutorial class owner has been arrested by Virar police for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl student inside a classroom.
