The police Monday said that they have arrested the wife and driver of Navi Mumbai builder for murdering him, saying that the two were involved in a relationship. The victim, Manoj Kumar Ramnarayan Singh (39), was found dead in his office in Seawoods on January 14.
Navi Mumbai Police identified his wife, Poonam Singh (34), and the driver, Raju alias Shamshul Abuhurera Khan (22), as the perpetrators of the crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Vivek Pansare revealed the arrest details during a press conference, stating that the police, relying on technical analysis and intelligence inputs, took the accused into custody within 24 hours after the murder of Navi Mumbai builder. The alleged motive behind the crime was the fear of financial loss, as Singh was entangled in various legal cases. The accused reportedly used iron rods to inflict fatal blows to Singh's head and face, and they attempted to destroy evidence by damaging the CCTV equipment in the office.
Both suspects have been remanded in police custody until January 18, and the investigation at the NRI police station remains ongoing, according to the DCP.
