A group of 11 men brutally hacked a man to death in broad daylight in Dhule city on Tuesday. He was also shot in the head. CCTV footage of the gruesome incident was leaked and has since gone viral. Cops said this was done in an attempt to generate panic in the city.
Vivek Pansare, deputy SP (Dhule), told mid-day, "We have short-listed some persons who have criminal records, and they are circulating the CCTV footage via WhatsApp and social media to create panic in the city. We are taking help from the Cyber Cell to identify the people who are spreading this video."
Rival gangs
The victim, Rafiquddin Shafiquddin Shaikh alias Gudya (33), was booked in more than 30 criminal cases of extortion, rape and murder. He was out on bail.

The attackers arrived with swords and hockey sticks and stabbed him 27 times. After he collapsed, they dragged his body out of the tea shop and left it on the road, before escaping on bikes and scooters.
Disturbing images
The disturbing video footage shows one of the assailants stabbing the victim repeatedly in the head, before he was pulled away by the others. Another video shot immediately after the attack shows Shaikh's mangled body lying in a pool of blood.
