Kalpita Pimple after the surgery to reattach her fingers. She was asking illegal hawkers in Kasarvadavali to clear the area when she was attacked
Thane assistant municipal commissioner (AMC) was attacked while she was on duty on Monday. Kalpita Pimple, accompanied by her bodyguard, had gone to Kasarvadavali to act against illegal hawkers when one of them struck her with a sharp weapon. She lost two of her fingers. Police have nabbed the accused, identified as Amarjit Yadav.
During a patrol around 6.30 pm, Pimple asked hawkers on the roadside to clear the area when Yadav started arguing with her, police said. Yadav told her that she should not take action against him, as he had not been able to make a living since the lockdown. Pimple said he cannot use it as an excuse to illegally set up stalls, and instructed civic officials to remove his belongings.
