Unidentified stalker attacks Shruti Haasan at her Mumbai residence

Actress Shruti Haasan who was allegedly attacked on Tuesday morning by a stalker at her apartment in Mumbai managed to fend off the man.


An unidentified stalker allegedly tried to barge into the residence of Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan, the daughter of noted actor Kamal Haasan, but her timely act of closing the door prevented the man from entering her house in suburban Bandra.

A source close to the 27-year-old actress told PTI that Shruti opened the door when a man rang the doorbell of her sixth floor residence in a suburban Bandra building at about 9.30 am.

"The man wanted to know from her why she was not recognising him and not talking to him. Shruti did not entertain the man, saying she did not know him, but the man tried to barge into her house. Shruti immediately banged the door," the source said.

The stalker was seen on her movie sets on a number of occasions, the source said.

No complaint has been registered with the police so far, the source said adding that "Shruti may approach the police station tomorrow".u00a0

Meanwhile, several film personalities reacted to the news on Twitter.

Famous south actress Khushbu Sundar tweeted, "@shrutihaasan hey brave lady..hope things r fine..take care dear..loads of love n hugs..."

Expressing her shock over the 'sacry' incident, VJ-turned-actress Sophie Choudry posted on the micro-blogging site: "@jiteshpillaai @shrutihaasan OMG.. Big hug babe.Thank God ur ok. We all used to say this is one of the safest cities. So scary!"

Journalist Jitesh Pillai was one of the first to post the news on the micro-blogging site.

"Shruti haasan (sic) had a horrible experience this morning when a stalker landed up at her apartment and attacked her.

He added, "Thankfully @shrutihaasan's presence of mind was very keen and she managed to fend him off and jam his hand in the door. The stalker ran away. She is shaken by this incident but coping. It's really scary how single girls are so vulnerable in this city."

The actress made her Bollywood debut in Imran Khan and Sanjay Dutt starrer 'Luck' and was last seen in Ramayya Vasthavayya'.
