Complainant alleged man in black and white passed son by when he was leaving home

Accused broke the locker door of the almirah, stole gold and cash

A man robbed valuables worth Rs 12 lakh from a flat in Borivli West. The incident took place on Monday afternoon when both the complainant, Bhupesh Gupta, and his wife had gone out for work and their son and daughter had also left for college.

His son, a Std XII student, said when he was leaving for college he saw a man wearing a black trouser and white shirt carrying a backpack come up, but did not pay much attention to it, assuming the man was headed to some other flat. He also saw another person in a similar attire sitting outside the building premises and assumed they were lawyers.

CCTV footage from the building shows the man entering and leaving but he is yet to be identified.

When Gupta's wife reached home, she found the door lock broken and her house ransacked. Gupta claimed that gold and cash worth Rs 12 lakh from their safe was found missing. The family then approached the MHB Colony police.

Speaking to mid-day Gupta said, "The accused robbed only gold and cash. They left the silver, laptop and tab behind."
