Thane Police nabbed four people in connection with murder of a history sheeter in Vartak Nagar area. The associates of the deceased had even vandalised the ambulance while it was on its way to the JJ hospital for post-mortem, the police said.
The deceased identified as Ganesh Jadhav alias Kalya Ganya had a criminal record. There were around 36 offences including murder, extortion, etc registered against him, a police official said
On October 21 morning, Ganesh Jadhav (36) resident of Lokmanya Nagar in Thane west was severely injured by firing a bullet by Bipin Rajendra Mishra and Saurabh Shinde in a jungle near Lokmanya Nagar. Jadhav was rushed to Vedant hospital but he succumbed to injuries during treatment.
"The attackers were the associates of the deceased and had been upset as he was not providing financial support to them. In August this year they had even threatened Jadhav asking to give them money," said Sanjay Dhumal, senior inspector of Vartak Nagar police station.

Following the incident, while the dead body was being shifted to the JJ hospital in Mumbai for post-mortem, Jadhav's associates started creating ruckus, they also vandalised the ambulance carrying his body. The driver drove the ambulance to Vartak Nagar police station to save himself. The cops had to call additional forces to escort the ambulance to the JJ hospital, police sources said.
He said, On the morning of October 21, he was shot by two men. He had sustained major injuries in the incident. After the incident, apart from the local police, the Vartak Nagar crime branch was also a conducting parallel probe. A team of Unit 5 of the crime branch led by of Vikas Ghodke nabbed Mishra, Shinde and Suraj Mehra. Whereas Vartak Nagar police officials arrested Shashikant Vatkar, an auto driver whose auto was used for the trasportation to conduct the killing.
