Police suspect that the girl is between 15 and 18 years of age, and that she was murdered somewhere else before her body was abandoned at Talegaon station. The abandoned bag was seen around 11 am and the Government Railway Police (GRP) was informed about it immediately.
Body in bag
Kisan Walandra, a member of the conservancy staff, first noticed the bag while cleaning the platform, and alerted a policeman on duty. A vendor then hauled the bag upto the police chowky. Since the bag was locked, a corner of the bag had to be cut. The girl's body was found with her hands tied up, inside the suitcase.
Police Inspector Abhay Parmar (GRP Pune) visited the spot. Two sniffer dogs - Rambo of Pune Crime Branch and Rani of Pune rural police - traced the suspects up to the engine spot on platform number 2 and till Talegaon ST Stand. Police also found some fencing wires broken.
