The steel container with the body was found in Forest Department’s land
After a teenaged girl's body was found in a steel tank in Nerul near Palm Beach Road on May 21, the Neurl police are yet to ascertain her identity. The steel container had the following engraving - âFrom Aryan, Ashok bhaubeej bhet 13/11/ 2015' - in Marathi.
Primary observations by doctors have revealed that the girl was hit on the head with a blunt object. Police have not come across any missing person complaints yet.
The police found the decomposed body in an area that is under the Forest Department's jurisdiction in the evening on Friday last week. The body was suspected to be of a girl aged 12-18 years. Doctors have also indicated that the girl must have been physically or mentally challenged.
"According to doctors, the girl must have been killed four to five days ago. The place where the body has been found is just next to the road, so there is a possibility that the accused came in a vehicle. We are checking CCTV cameras installed at the road," said an officer from Nerul police. Police are yet to get the final post-mortem report.
