The National Investigating Agency (NIA) probing the case of explosives found in a Scorpio near Antilia, the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani , arrested API Sachin Vaze who was heading the CIU of Mumbai Crime Branch and initially investigated the case as investigating officer.
The case was transferred to ACP Nitin Alaknure, after senior officials found Vaze's links with the Scorpio owner Mansukh Hiran.
Mansukh Hiran was found dead at Thane creek and his wife had levelled allegations against Vaze. The case was transferred to the ATS and later the NIA took over the case after receiving orders from Ministry of Home Affairs.
Sources have said that the NIA arrested Vaze after finding strong circumstantial evidence against him.

After Vaze's arrest , the NIA is likely to take over the murder case of Mansukh Hiran under section 8 (Power to investigate connected case ) of NIA act.
Details of the arrest
Mumbai Police Crime Brach API Sachin Vaze was arrested on March 13 by the NIA for his role and involvement in placing explosives laden vehicle near Carmichael Road on February 25.
The sections he was arrested under are:
286 - Negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance
465 - Punishment for forgery
473 - Making or possessing counterfeit seal
506 - Punishment for criminal intimidation.
120 B - Criminal conspiracy.
