The 11-year-old survivor was sexually abused by his hostel supervisor on three occasions; the accused has been remanded in police custody for a week
In another shocking incident of child sexual abuse, the supervisor of a hostel in Pune has been arrested for sexually abusing an 11-year-old student. The survivor's parents have registered a case against the accused with the police after learning of the torment their son went through.
Vishrambaug Police Station has registered a case of child sexual abuse against Moreshwar Kanhe (60), the hostel rector. He hails from Satara and was employed as a teacher and rector two months back at the Pune-based hostel run by a reputed organization.
The survivor's father, who is a farmer from Shirur village, registered the case on Monday and Kanhe was subsequently arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code including Section 377 (Unnatural carnal intercourse) as well as sections of the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
First instance
The boy had been living at the hostel for the last three years. The arrested accused Kanhe allegedly abused the boy for the first time in August. He summoned the survivor to his cabin on the pretext of some work.
Upon reaching
his cabin, Kanhe allegedly forcefully stripped the boy naked and proceeded to sodomise him. He also threatened to kill the boy and lodge a false case of theft against him if he spoke of this incident to anyone else.
Speaking to mid-day, Inspector (Crime) S J Pinjan of Vishrambaug police station said, "The victim remained quiet after the first incident. Kanhe asked the boy to visit his cabin two days after the first incident and sexually abused him twice on that occasion. Later, the boy went home on leave since he wanted to spend Raksha Bandhan with his family.
On Sunday, his parents asked him to go back to school but he refused, claiming he was unwell. His parents reprimanded him and urged him to go back, which is when he spilled the beans on the abuse he had been suffering for the past month.
They approached us and we lodged the case against Kanhe." The 11-year-old survivor is undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital in Pune.
Meanwhile, Kanhe has been fired from his job.
He was produced before a special POCSO court on Tuesday and has been remanded in police custody for a week.
