NIA arrests two aides of Chhota Shakeel for handling activities, financial transactions of Dawood's crime syndicate

Following the raids in Mumbai over the past two days, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two associates of the D gang having close links with Chhota Shakeel. The agency has been investigating the case registered against Dawood Ibrahim and members of the D gang this year in February.

The arrested accused are identified as Arif Abubakar Shaikh (59) and Shabbir Abubakar Shaikh (51). 'Both were involved in handling D Company's illegal activities and terrorist financing in the western suburbs of Mumbai," the agency said in a statement.

As per the agency, Arif and Abubakar are associates of outlawed D Company and wanted accused Shakeel Shaikh @ Chhota Shakeel. Interpol has issued Red Corner Notice against Chhota Shakeel who operates an international criminal syndicate from Pakistan." He is involved in extortions, narcotics smuggling and violent terrorist activities." The statement reads further

The arrested persons will be produced before the NIA Special Court today for seeking their Police custody for investigation purposes. "Further investigation in the case is continuing," the statement said.

The agency has been carrying out raids in the city and outskirts. Earlier this week, raids were carried out at 29 locations 24 in Mumbai and 5 in Mira Bhayandar, during the searches agency seized documents, arms, and huge cash.

The federal agency in the FIR has alleged that the D gang has formed a special unit for striking terror activities in India and targeting political leaders.
