The Narcotics Control Bureau will probe underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's jailed brother Iqbal Kaskar in a drug case and will seek his custody today. The agency says Kaskar has been a part of a drugs syndicate with potential links to terrorists despite being in Thane jail for the past three years.
Kaskar appeared on NCB's radar after anti-drug officials arrested two people on June 15 and recovered 12 kg of charas worth R8 crore at Arjun Ali toll plaza in Bhiwandi. The duo had come from Jammu and Kashmir to deal in drugs, said NCB.
"From the interrogation of the duo arrested in Bhiwandi, it has been found that Kaskar is also associated with this syndicate," said a senior NCB officer.
The agency's zonal director Sameer Wankhede said, "NCB has taken production custody of Iqbal Kaskar in this matter. Kaskar will be produced in court on Thursday."
