A 35-year-old Panvel woman accused a man of sexually assaulting her and extorting money from her. The Navi Mumbai police have registered a case against the man, an official said on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.
According to the 35-year-old Panvel woman, complainant, accused Ishan Aveya Bahera Sarvajit promised to marry her and repeatedly sexually assaulted her between April and December last year at her residence, the official said, reported PTI.
The accused also allegedly recorded explicit videos of the woman and threatened to make them public if she refused to maintain a physical relationship with him, the official said citing the complaint, reported PTI.
Sarvajit allegedly borrowed Rs 7.5 lakh and a laptop from her for a purported business venture but neither returned the money nor the device, she alleged, reported PTI.

The Panvel Town police station on Monday registered a case against Sarvajit under Indian Penal Code sections, including 376 (rape), and the Information Technology (IT) Act, the official said, reported PTI.
In another case, with the arrest of three persons, two of them hailing from Tiruchirappalli city in Tamil Nadu, the Navi Mumbai police on Tuesday claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of thieves, reported PTI.
The gang was involved in laptop thefts and stealing valuables from cars, a police official said, reported PTI.
The official told a news conference that the trio, one of them hailing from Puducherry, had been moving around in Maharashtra and stealing laptops and valuables from cars, reported PTI.
The arrested accused were identified by the police as Senithil Durairajan Kumar (48), Murthy Ramasamy Chinnappan (30) -- both from Tiruchirappalli -- and Shiva Viswanathan (47), a resident of Puducherry, reported PTI.
He said last week in Vashi, a parked car's window was broken and two laptops were stolen from it, reported PTI.
A probe team worked on several leads and tracked the location of the laptops to CSMT station in south Mumbai. The team rushed to the station and with the help of the Government Railway Police (GRP) nabbed the trio, he said, reported PTI.
Upon checking, the police recovered a number of laptops from the trio, including those stolen from Vashi, said the official, reported PTI.
The official said during their interrogation it was revealed that they were in the state for the last 20 days and had stolen laptops from several parts of Mumbai besides Pune and Nashik, reported PTI.
The three accused had committed similar crimes in other states too, he added, reported PTI.
