Navi Mumbai man was arrested by the cops for allegedly raping his minor relative and impregnating her. The Navi Mumbai man was held for raping his 15-year-old niece, a police official told PTI on Monday.
According to the report, the 34-year-old accused, who hails from Nerul in Navi Mumbai, is the girl's maternal uncle.
The police official from Nerul station told PTI that the Navi Mumbai man allegedly sexually assaulted the girl in his house on October 4, 2023.
Reportedly, the girl complained of some health issues following the assault and she was admitted to a hospital in the Govandi area of Mumbai where it came to light that she was pregnant.

The hospital authorities reported the incident the incident to Nerul Police following which the Navi Mumbai man was held on Sunday and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the cops told PTI.
In another case from Thane district's Mira-Bhayander town, the police busted a sex racket and arrested a 27-year-old woman. Per PTI report, the racket was being run in a resort in Mira-Bhayander town.
According to the report, the Thane Police's anti-human trafficking cell (AHTC) raided a resort in the Uttan area of the town on January 29 and rescued three women who are in their 20s during the operation.
Senior inspector Sameer Ahirrao told PTI that they have arrested one Artidevi Pankajkumar Lehar under Section 370 (3) (Trafficking) of the Indian Penal Code.
Reportedly, the AHTC sleuths sent a decoy customer to the resort after receiving a tip-off regarding the racket. They arrested the accused while she was negotiating a deal, the official told PTI and said that further probe is underway.
In another unrelated incident, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in cooperation with the Thane Police, officials said that they confiscated tobacco items and outlawed gutkha valued at approximately Rs 38 lakh on Thursday in the Thane region of Maharashtra, according to the PTI.
In response to a tip, FDA staff members carried out an unexpected inspection at a godown complex in Bhiwandi and found an abandoned tempo. Upon closer examination, the tempo was found to be carrying illicit items such as tobacco products and gutkha, reported PTI. The gutkha and tobacco products worth Rs 37,91,844 were seized by the officials, they said.
