The Dindoshi police on Wednesday arrested a 38-year-old woman while she was trying to kidnap a three-year-old boy in broad daylight. Police officials said that the accused identified as Alfona Sadad was under the influence of drugs.
According to a report in the Times of India, the alleged incident took place in a slum near Malad (East) railway station. Sadad went up to a group of children playing nearby and started dragging away one of them, an officer said.
Meanwhile, the boy's sister saw the accused pulling her brother and yelled at her to leave him alone. The locals who had gathered around the place summoned the police. When arrested, the accused was unable to provide any coherent explanation for her action.
Later, she was released on a personal bond by a magistrate court.
