A mother-daughter duo had the shock of their lives when they slept in their room on the fifth floor of their residential building, and a few minutes after that the floor gave way and they fell on to the fourth floor. The scary incident took place at the City View Society which is 35 years old, at Oweripada in Dahisar East on Saturday. The police have arrested the owner of the flat on the fourth floor and a contractor who was renovating it.
The police said Hina Mistry, 34, and her five-year-old daughter were sleeping in the bedroom of their house, when suddenly around 12.15 am the floor gave way with a huge thud. Hina's husband Neeraj, who was working in the living room, rushed to see what had happened. He was shocked to see the floor had given way. "I saw my wife and daughter had fallen alongwith the bed onto the flat below. I rushed to the floor below and sought help from the neighbours." The flat on the fourth floor was locked as it was being repaired and renovated. Mistry said neighbours broke open the lock to rescue Hina and his daughter.
The Dahisar police have registered a case against the flat owner, Pravin Darji, and contractor Vinod Jaiswal, and arrested them. Pratik Durve, secretary of City View Society said, "The flat owner had informed us before starting work but we didn't not have any knowledge about what they were going to do. We have asked them to get a structural audit done.
