A 14-year-old girl killed herself by overdosing on sleeping pills on Monday and left behind a note saying she took the step because her stepfather left her mother and married another woman. However, even before the Malvani cops arrived at the spot, her mother found the suicide note and swallowed it. The police have managed to recover a screenshot of the note, which the girl had sent to some relatives and friends via WhatsApp before killing herself.
The girl's 25-year-old brother said the note was addressed to their stepfather and that his sister was worried that he had left their mother. Some details of the note have, however, shocked the family.
Her brother said, "My sister has written, âpapa you did not think of me as a daughter but something else. I haven't told anybody about what you did to me, but I cannot tolerate it anymore, so I'm taking this step.' This is a very serious accusation and needs to be investigated by the police. I have written to the local police and higher authorities, and sought a fair probe."
Investigation has revealed that the deceased's stepfather was her mother's third husband. While the woman's second husband was the deceased's biological father, the first husband was the brother's father. The deceased was a Std VIII student and used to stay at a hostel but had returned home during the lockdown. The girl's brother had gone to Lucknow to attend a friend's wedding on February 21 and the incident happened the following day.

Speaking to mid-day, he said, "I had left early in the morning. I spoke to my sister later in the day and she seemed happy. Don't know what happened in one night."
