A petty fight over just a few sprinkles of water resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man in Mulund in Mumbai on Wednesday night. The deceased, an owner of a dairy, was closing his shop when his worker spilled some water on a pedestrian which enraged him and he began to beat the worker, the police said.
Meanwhile, the owner, Suresh Pitkar tried to intervene during which the pedestrian punched him on the chest that led to his death. Accused has been arrested, the police said.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 10:30 pm, when 50-year-old Shivchandra Yadav, a worker with Gopal Dairy Farm was washing utensils at the footpath. Kailash Jadhav, a local resident, was passing from the spot and some water spilled on Jadhav, who got into a fight with Yadav over it.
"Jadhav slapped Yadav and started abusing him. Pitkar came to his rescue and asked Jadhav not to hit him," an official from Mulund Police said.
