Mumbai: Man stabs girl after being rejected

The police said that the man had proposed to the woman, but was rejected. After stabbing the girl, he also stabbed himself. Everyone is out of danger.

A 23-year-old man, identified as Suraj Ambekar, has been arrested by the Virar police for allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old woman, her sister, uncle and aunt at their Virar home with a knife on Saturday morning. The police said that the man had proposed to the woman, but was rejected. After stabbing the girl, he also stabbed himself. Everyone is out of danger.

Ambekar was working at a private hospital as a ward boy. According to police officials, the attack took place on Saturday at 8.30 am when the accused entered the bungalow. The woman's parents had gone to the market, but her uncle and aunt were home. Speaking with mid-day, senior inspector Suresh Warade of Virar police station, said, "After stabbing the woman, Suraj locked himself in the washroom and slashed his veins and attempted suicide." The relatives called the police who took the injured to the hospital.
