Mumbai: Juhu hawker, who raped housewife and fled, held from Bihar

A hawker who had raped a 29-year-old housewife and was on the run since August 2020 has been arrested by Juhu police in Bihar.

The accused, MohitKumar Baleram, 27, had married another girl in Madhubani, Bihar and was nabbed from the bride bidding-farewell ceremony, as per Times of India.

Balreman ran a Chinese food cart in Juhu. He raped a housewife and fled on August 26. The survivor narrated her ordeal to her husband and a case was filed against him.

A team of Juhu police went to Bihar to nab him but he kept moving around Bihar. He was finally held from the wedding.

The team will reach Mumbai with Baleram on Friday. Baleram was booked under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape).
