A 30-year-old man recently walked into a hospital with his intestines in hand after being stabbed in a road rage incident at Manpada in Dombivli. Police said they have arrested the stabber.
Cops have identified the victim as Harshad Rasal, a decorator, and the accused as Pandit Mhatre, who is a local cable operator. Another person, a passerby who tried to help Harshad, was also injured.
The incident took place on Sunday night near Neptune Hospital, when Harshad's mini truck brushed Mhatre's car. Mhatre stopped, came out of the vehicle and challenged Harshad.
"Bandu Rasal, Harshad's uncle, got off the vehicle and tried to reason with Mhatre, and even offered compensation for the damage. But Mhatre started a heated argument," said an officer from Manpada police station.

As the situation got intense, "Harshad got down and tried to pacify him, but Mhatre didn't budge. He made a call and asked someone to come over," said the officer.
Soon, three men arrived on the scene and started beating Harshad and Bandu. "When Harshad fought back, Mhatre rushed to his car shouting, âNow I will show you who I am.' He pulled out a knife and stabbed Harshad twice. His intestine came out and he started bleeding," said the police.
Onlookers gathered and a few of them tried to help Harshad. But, "Mhatre brandished his knife and warned against offering any help. One passerby still came forward, but Mhatre slashed his thigh. Both injured were rushed to Neptune Hospital," said another officer.
"The doctors at Neptune Hospital told me to go to Mamata Hospital. So, my uncle and I took an autorickshaw to the hospital and I got admitted there. Afterwards, I lost consciousness," Harshad told mid-day. He is still in ICU, but out of danger.
Jaybhadra Mishra, 35, the person who got injured while trying to help Harshad, was moved to AIMS Hospital in Dombivli.
"Mishra lost a lot of blood as his vein was slashed. He is in the ICU and is in a critical condition," said a police officer.
"As per the complaint, we have lodged an FIR against Pandit Mhatre and three others. We have booked them under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (international insult provoking breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal code," said Shekhar Bagde, senior inspector, Manpada police station.
"Mhatre has been arrested, while search is on for the three other accused," he added.
