A fake ticket checker was apprehended while inspecting tickets in the first-class compartments of a Central Railway's Mumbai local train.
"The individual was checking tickets of commuters in the first-class compartments of local trains between Diva and Dombivli. When questioned about his credentials, he began to behave suspiciously. Passengers then handed him over to the station master at Diva," an official stated.
"After a thorough investigation and interrogation, it was revealed that he had been impersonating a ticket checker on board trains. He had even fabricated a counterfeit identity card that closely resembled the authentic one. The accused, identified as Hariom Vijay Bahadur Singh, is only 21 years old and resides in Airoli. He is a permanent resident of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. A forged ticket checker's ID with the words 'Northern Railway' was confiscated from him," the official added.
The railway authorities have lodged a case against him with the Dombivli railway police.

Meanwhile, as many as four more lines have been laid at Juinagar and will be operational starting this weekend. This addition aims to enhance Navi Mumbai's rail commute from Monday onward.
"The plan involves constructing four new EMU sidings at Juinagar station to accommodate the daily stabling of suburban local trains. These new sidings will alleviate the congestion in stabling local train rakes at Panvel and Vashi platforms. Furthermore, they will help ease the burden on the Sanpada car shed stabling lines. The new stabling lines at Juinagar will also facilitate the inspection of local train rakes," the official explained.
"A special traffic block will be implemented on the Down and UP Harbour and Trans-harbour lines at Juinagar station. This is to commission the four new local train stabling sidings, incorporating Electronic Interlocking at Juinagar station. The traffic block will be in effect from this weekend until Sunday," he added.
