The Airport Commissionerate, Mumbai Customs Zone III seized over 4.65 kgs gold valued at Rs 2.49 Crore across 12 different cases, from February 21 to 23.
Additional Commissioner, Sarika Shah said, "Two Foreign Nationals, travelling from Muscat to Mumbai were intercepted based on APIS profiling in two different cases. 24 KT Gold dust in wax and 22 KT Gold Jewelery, collectively weighing 1210 grams were recovered. Gold dust in wax was found concealed in the rectum and Gold Jewellery was found concealed on the body of the passenger", Shah said.
In another case, "An Indian National was intercepted, and 24 KT Gold wire, 24 KT Gold dust in wax and 24 KT Gold dust in Ash, collectively weighing 434 grams were recovered. Gold wire was found concealed in the luggage. Gold dust were found concealed in the clothes worn by the passenger."
In two other cases, "Two Indian Nationals, travelling from Sharjah to Mumbai were intercepted in two different cases and 24 KT Gold dust in cloth collectively weighing 950 grams was found concealed in the clothes worn by the passenger. Similarly, two other Foreign Nationals, travelling from Sharjah to Mumbai were intercepted in two different cases and 24 KT Gold Jewellery collectively weighing 579 grams was found concealed in luggage", a customs officer said.

In other two actions, an Indian National, travelling from Jeddah to Mumbai was intercepted and 24 KT Gold collectively weighing 500 grams was found concealed in hand bag carried by the passenger. While, two Indian Nationals, travelling from Riyadh to Mumbai were intercepted in two different cases and 24 KT Gold Jewellery collectively weighing 466 grams was found.
There were other seizers by customs where, an Indian National, travelling from Dubai to Mumbai was intercepted and 24 KT Gold dust, 22 KT Crude Gold bracelet collectively weighing 270 grams were recovered, sources from customs said.
