Mumbai crime: Two Mumbai Police officials foiled a robbery at knife point by three men and saved a man's life after he was allegedly attacked by the suspects. The cops nabbed one of the three attackers red handed and also immediately responded to an urgent medical attention needed to the injured victim and shifted him to a nearby hospital, a police official said on Monday.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 30 night when the victim, an auto rickshaw driver, was stopped by three people at Shilphata area in Thane and was on his way to Mankhurd. Upon reaching a deserted spot in Mankhurd area of eastern Mumbai, the trio asked the driver to stop the vehicle and began to rob him at knife point. In the process the victim also allegedly sustained some injuries.
"The intention of the suspects was to rob the auto rickshaw driver of his belongings and also to steal his vehicle," an official said.
The police said, while the suspects were in the process of a robbery at knife point, the victim called out for help and two Mumbai Police officials- Machindra Kharade and Santosh Damale heard his call and reached at the spot. The two cops witnessed the commotion and immediately rushed for the victim's aid however, the suspects resisted and in the process two of them fled from the spot while the cops duo nabbed one of the suspects red handed.

"The brave police officials noticed that the victim was in urgent need of help and rushed him to a nearby hospital," the official added.
The police said that the Kharade and Damale did not leave the suspect even after there was a threat to both since the suspects were in possession of a sharp knife. One of the suspects was later brought to the Mankhurd Police station where he was placed under arrest. An FIR was registered against the three accused involved in the crime under relevant sections of the IPC.
"One more suspect involved in the crime was later arrested from Mumbra area of Thane and a hunt is going on to nab the third suspect," the official added.
He said Dhamale and Kharade were also awarded for their brave act.
