Mumbai Crime: Thieves steal Rs 75 lakh at knifepoint in Malad

Three thieves fled with Rs 75 lakh after threatening two men with a knife in Malad. The local police in Malad have filed a case against three individuals in relation to this incident. Additionally, the Crime Branch is conducting a parallel investigation into the matter.

Both the victims work with a foreign exchange trading businessman. They usually collect foreign currency from vendors in Mumbai and make online payments. The business employs a total of 20 individuals, and any remaining amount of currency is deposited in the office after being sold to a travel agent.

To transport the money bags, the responsibility is assigned to different employees on a rotational basis. On the day of the incident, a sum of Rs 50 lakhs was placed in a black bag and given to one of the employees, while another employee received Rs 25 lakhs in a grey bag. They were instructed to take both bags to one of their homes.

As both the traders headed towards their destination. Around 8:30 p.m., three individuals on a motorcycle arrived at the spot and surrounded the employees from both sides, with one brandishing a knife against one of them, and the other employee was assaulted and instructed to remain silent. The thief then grabbed one of the money bags and made a swift escape.

The assaulted employee promptly informed their employer about the incident. Following a complaint filed by the businessman, the Malad police have registered a case against the three suspects. Law enforcement officials are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to track down the thieves.
