The Aarey police have arrested a 22-year-old for kidnapping a minor and raping her on Sunday night. He kidnapped the seven-year-old in Kurla and took her to the Aarey Milk Colony.
According to police sources, at around 10.30 pm near Unit number 32 in Aarey colony when the minor started screaming, locals rushed to help and caught the accused.
On investigation the police found that the girl is a resident of Kurla, and had gone missing late in the evening. The police said she was playing outside her house, and her mother was sitting at the door. When the accused arrived, thinking he was a beggar, the girl's mother went inside to bring him food. The accused then lured the girl on the pretext of feeding her Chinese food and took her with him.
Her family members searched nearby and when they did not find her they approached the Kurla police station and reported her missing.

The Kurla police were investigating the matter after registering a case of kidnapping said an officer.
During interrogation it has been revealed that the accused stays at Santosh Nagar Goregaon East, is addicted to drugs and has a previous criminal record of kidnapping a minor girl. He was arrested by the Dindoshi police in the year 2016 for the crime and then was himself a juvenile.
"We have booked and arrested the accused under sections 376 (3) 376 (A) (B), 363, 364, 324, and 323 of IPC and under various sections of the POCSO Act," said a police officer.
The accused was produced before the sessions court and remanded in police custody till July 31, said another officer.
