The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a woman and her friend for allegedly recording an intimate video of a doctor with her partner and blackmailing her to pay Rs 5 lakh. The alleged incident had taken place on November 26.
As per a report in The Indian Express, the accused brought a spy camera and recorded a video in the doctor's clinic. The duo then demanded money and threatened the victim saying that they will put the clip on social media and send it to her family members if she doesn't pay up.
"The doctor is married but was having an affair with a man who stays in Oman. Recently, he had come to Mumbai to meet her and went to her clinic," said an officer investigating the case.
The female accused, who worked as a compounder in the clinic, was aware of the doctor having an affair. She bought a spy camera and installed it inside her room in the clinic. "When the doctor and her male friend were alone in the room, they were recorded on the camera," said an officer.

The compounder then gave the camera to her friend. The duo then brought a new SIM card, from which they duo sent the video to the doctor on November 29. They blackmailed her to pay Rs 5 lakh or the video would be shared on social media.
After being threatened by the compounder and her friend for four days, the victim finally approached a police station in central Mumbai. A case of extortion and criminal intimidation under the IPC and IT Act was registered on December 3 by the officials.
The police then encouraged the complainant to inform the extortionist that she was willing to pay the money so that they can lay a trap. "The police had planned to lay a trap and catch the extortionist," said an officer. However, the accused came to know about it and sent the video to one of the doctor's acquaintances.
