Bonito Chhabria
Car designer Dilip Chhabria's son Bonito Chhabria, 43, has been arrested by the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with a fraud case. This arrest comes after an FIR was lodged by actor-comedian Kapil Sharma in 2020. This is the fourth arrest in the case.
Last year, Sharma had filed a cheating case with the Mumbai Police. According to the complaint, in 2017, he had given Rs 5.31 crore to Dilip's company Dilip Chhabria Designer Pvt Ltd. for a vanity van. While the vanity van wasn't ready even in 2019, he was sent a bill of Rs 1.20 crore as parking charge.
The CIU probing Sharma's complaint arrested Bonito from Andheri. Following investigations, they learnt that Rs 2 crore was transferred to the bank account of Bonito, who works as director in the company.
The CIU arrested Bonito and presented him in the holiday court on Saturday, and demanded maximum police custody. A CIU official told the court that Bonito used this money to pay his credit card dues and EMIs of loans taken from banks, and for shopping.
