A 75-year-old resident of Malad West stabbed his 70-year-old wife to death on Saturday morning after he found himself doubting her character. After killing his wife, the old man also attempted suicide and stabbed himself. He is currently admitted at Cooper Hospital for further treatment.

The Malwani Police has registered a murder case and started investigation in the matter. The accused has been identified as Samruddin Chandasa Shaikh, a resident of Madh's Shivaji Nagar, Malad West. The deceased is Mumtaz Samruddin Shaikh.

The police said that the accused used to doubt his wife's character and due to this, they would fight on daily basis. According to the police officials, the incident occurred on Saturday morning when the couple was alone at home. After a fight over the same issue, Shaikh took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his wife multiple times in her stomach and chest.

A police officer from Malwani police station said, "After stabbing Mumtaz, the accused also stabbed himself and then screamed for help. The locals rushed to their home and found Mumtaz in a pool of blood on the bed. They then rushed both of them to Cooper Hospital where Mumtaz was declared dead before admission, and Shaikh was admitted to the ICU for further treatment." "We also recorded the couple's son Rafiq Shaikh's statement. We will arrest the accused Samruddin Shaikh after he is released from the hospital," a police officer added.
