Four unknown assailants opened fire at two persons and attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon outside a bar in Nalasopara East on Sunday at around 9:30 pm.
The assailants fired five bullets on the victims and fled from the spot. The incident took place in Moregaon area of Nalasopara East.
The police was informed about the incident and the injured person was admitted to the local government hospital where his condition is said to be critical.
According to police sources, the injured person has been identified as Raju Gupta.

Raju Gupta
Gupta and his friends were standing on the road outside the bar when the assailants attacked them. Two of the bullets fired by the assailants hit Gupta, who is a history-sheeter and has several cases registered against him in many police stations.
The eyewitnesses and Gupta's friends told the police that the accused came on Jupiter bike and were wearing masks.
"During the initial investigation, the police have got some clues about the accused and a manhunt has been launched," said an official from Tulinj police station.
The police suspect that it could be a case of personal rivalry.
