Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has registered an FIR after an unknown individual created a fraudulent Instagram account in her name, the police said.
According to the police, the imposter allegedly contacted people in the film industry, posing as Vidya Balan and offering them job opportunities. The Khar police have initiated an investigation into the matter after officially registering an FIR.
Vidya Balan became aware of the situation on January 16 when her stylist received a call from someone claiming to be Vidya Balan, expressing interest in discussing work, sources said.
A police officer said, "The unknown suspect also created a fake Instagram ID, vidya.balan.pvt, with the email vidyabalanspeaks@gmail.com. The accused has been sending messages to individuals working in the film industry, offering them jobs."

The Khar police registered the FIR against the unidentified suspect for creating a fake Instagram ID under Vidya Balan's name and sending deceptive messages to industry professionals. The FIR has been filed under the relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act and further investigations in the matter were underway, the official said.
