Two unidentified bike-borne assailants allegedly fired two rounds at the vehicle of an engineer attached to the public works department (PWD) of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation, at Borivli East on Wednesday evening. No injuries were reported.

According to police sources, the incident took place when Deepak Khambit was near Sanjay Gandhi National Park on Western Express Highway. Two men on a bike approached his vehicle and fired two rounds, breaking a window of the car, and fled. Khambit, who was sitting in the backseat, escaped unhurt.

Kasturba Marg police started investigation and are scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused. Police officers also recorded Khambit's statement to find out if there was any motive behind the incident.
