A 39-year-old murder convict was nabbed from Telangana 12 years after jumping parole. The 39-year-old murder convict, who was absconding for the last 12 years after jumping parole, was arrested by the Mumbai police's crime branch from Telangana, a police official told news agency PTI on Tuesday.

The convict, Ashok Hanumanta Kajeri alias V Shiva Narsimullu, was staying in Mehboobnagar town of Telangana by changing his name and identity, the police official told PTI.

He was arrested by the Mumbai police in a murder case which had taken place in 2007, the police official told PTI.

Kajeri was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court in 2008 and was sent to Nashik Central Prison to serve his jail term. In 2011, he was released on a 30-day parole, but did not return to prison to complete his sentence and was absconding since then, the official told PTI.

The Mumbai police had searched him at Nashik, Jalna, Hingoli, Parbhani and Kerala also, but he remained untraceable. After several years, crime branch officials got specific information about Kajeri's presence in Telangana from where he was finally nabbed, the official told PTI.

Kajeri was brought to Mumbai and placed under arrest, he said.

Meanwhile, in an incident of road rage, two persons stabbed a 24-year-old truck driver to death after their two-wheeler rammed into the heavy vehicle in Maharashtra's Thane district, police told PTI on Tuesday.

The police have arrested Anjala Liyat Khan (23) and Mohammad Anans Asfaque Sheikh (21) in connection with the incident that took place in Kalyan taluka in the early hours of Monday, an official told PTI.

The victim Bholakumar Mahanto and his friend were proceeding in a truck transporting gravel to Shahad when the vehicle developed a flat tyre and was halted on the bridge around 4.30 am, senior inspector Sunil Pawar of Bazarpeth police station told PTI.

A motorcycle rammed into the stationary truck and got damaged. The riders started arguing with the victim to pay for the damages and allegedly stabbed him to death, the official told PTI.

The accused fled the scene and were apprehended by the police in the western suburb of Bandra in neighbouring Mumbai on Monday night, the official told PTI.
