A 29-year-old man was assaulted in Mumbai's Sion area after opening his own shop, leading to the arrest of four individuals. The accused snatched Rs 50,000 and a gold chain from him and also took him to Sion Hospital for treatment. Cops have arrested all the accused in connection with the incident.
Nitesh Chourasiya, a resident of Dharavi and a 29-year-old, had been working as a manager at Riyansh Ethnic Wear in Kala Quilla, Sion, since 2022. Dissatisfied with irregular payment, Chourasiya left his job three months ago, which didn't go well with his employer, Ajeet Shrivastav.
On the night of October 20, Nitesh received a call from his client, Dinesh Kanojiya, regarding a payment matter. Nitesh met Dinesh at Sion railway station around 11 pm, and they went to a bar for drinks. At approximately 11:40 pm, Dinesh received a phone call from home and excused himself to answer it outside the bar.
During this time, Nitesh noticed that his former employer, Ajit Shrivastav, had arrived at the bar and motioned for him to come out. When Nitesh exited the bar, he was grabbed by the collar by another person and told to sit on a scooter. An official from Sion Hospital stated, "Nitesh was taken to the shop by Ajeet, where he was asked to sit."
Ajeet questioned Nitesh about why he had opened his own shop, which he believed was damaging his own business. Nitesh attempted to explain that he had no other option due to the lack of timely payment from Ajeet. However, Ajeet became furious and threatened to harm him. Seeing that nobody was paying attention, Nitesh managed to escape from the shop and started running.
He was pursued by Ajeet and three of his associates, and they eventually caught him. After some time, they noticed that Nitesh was bleeding and decided to take him to a nearby hospital. When they discovered that the hospital was closed, they transported Nitesh to Sion Hospital. Before taking him to the emergency room, they confiscated Rs 50,000, which had been paid to him by his client, his mobile phone, and his gold chain.
Nitesh received treatment but did not disclose that he had been assaulted. After his treatment, the four assailants left the hospital without returning his belongings. The following day, Nitesh filed a complaint against the four individuals under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 365 (kidnapping), 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), and 34 (common intention).
"Immediately after the FIR was filed, we located and arrested the suspects in the case. They were taken into police custody," stated Manisha Shirke, Senior Inspector of Sion Police Station. The arrested individuals were identified as Ajeet Deepnarayan Shrivastav, Ajeet Munnalaal Shrivastav, Mantoo Mishra, and Kunal Karande.
