The Mumbai Crime Branch's Unit 9 on Wednesday nabbed a 21-year-old man allegedly with illegal firearm and live cartridges in Khar area of the city, an official said.
According to the police, the officials of the crime branch Unit 9 headed by Daya Nayak received information regarding the suspect who was in possession of illegal firearm. The police traced the suspects location in the jurisdiction of Khar police station and nabbed the suspect from Chitrakar Dhurandar Road in Khar.
The suspect was Identified as Srikrishna Vivendra Pal Sharma, 21, a resident of Mira Road. He is originally from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, an official said.
The police have seized a stainless steel, locally manufactured pistol along with four live cartridges from the possession of the accused.

"An FIR has been registered at the Khar Police Station under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act and sections 37(1)(A) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act," the official said.
He will be produced before a court on May 2, he added.
Mumbai Police nabs man from Hyderabad for cheating several women
Meanwhile, in an another incident, Mumbai Police have arrested a man from Hyderabad for allegedly cheating a number of women after promising to marry them, officials said on Wednesday.
The women were reportedly cheated of lakhs of rupees across several states of the country by the suspect, the officials.
According to the police, the suspect would first come in contact with the unsuspecting women on matrimonial websites and then swindle large sums of money promising marriage with them.
The man was apprehended by the officials of Pydhonie Police Station in south Mumbai on Tuesday, an official said.
The police said that the matter came to light when a 42-year-old woman from the Pydhonie area lodged a police complaint against the accused for allegedly cheating her of Rs 21.73 lakh after coming across her profile on a matrimony site, the official said.
The suspect came in contact with the woman in 2023 through the matrimonial site and promised to marry her, said the official.
Between May and October 2023, he sought money from the woman under various pretexts. The woman paid him Rs 21.73 lakh on different occasions in cash as well as through online transactions, he said.
