Deepti More, an instrumentation engineer by profession, lived with her husband Tejas and son Aarnav in a posh locality in Pune. On Saturday night, Deepti took Aarnav to his bedroom, while her husband slept in their bedroom. Around 2 am, Deepti allegedly slashed the wrists of the five-year-old and strangulated him.
The next morning, she went crying to Tejas and confessed to killing their son. Tejas rushed to Aarnav's bedroom, but Deepti locked him inside and jumped off the balcony of the other room. Tejas raised the alarm, after which their neighbours came and opened the door.
Tejas, along with neighbours, rushed Deepti to hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. The Sinhagad police have registered a case of accidental death. Prima facie investigation indicates that she took the drastic step under depression.
